FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)
(a) Who is Brotzeit®?
Brotzeit® is a modern & contemporary German Bier Bar & Restaurant that exudes the ‘New Germany’ experience.
(b) How much does it cost to build a typical Brotzeit® restaurant?
The estimated investment required for a typical 2,800 square feet restaurant is US$450,000 to US$600,000. This amount will vary depending on the size of the unit, the geographical area and other local factors.
(c) How long is the Franchise tenure period?
The initial term is usually 10 years, with an option to renew for one additional 10 years term, provided that certain criteria are met and agreed.
(d) How much cash or liquid assets is required to qualify as a Franchisee?
Depending on the number of units agreed, the required cash or liquid assets would be between US$500,000 – US$600,000 per restaurant. Additionally, personal net worth requirements must be met.
(e) Can I partner with someone if I do not meet the financial criteria?
Yes, however, you would have to provide us with a resume, a personal financial statement and other details of each member of your potential partner or group.
(f) Does Brotzeit® provide financing for restaurant development?
No, Brotzeit® does not provide financing.
(g) Will the Franchise be restricted to dine-in, could there be an option for ‘carryout’?
Brotzeit® is primarily a casual dine-in concept. However, we will work with you to determine if there should be an option for carryout and delivery in your market.
(h) Am I required to run the operations in the restaurant?
If you possess significant Casual Dining Restaurant management experience, you may wish to act as the principal Operator. If you do not, an experienced Principal Operator must be hired to run your restaurants.
(i) What type of return can I expect to make on my investment?
As with many business, potential profit or loss is dependant upon various factors, including the ability of Franchisee to manage their business, drive unit sales volumes and managing sound operating expenses. Brotzeit® advocates each prospective Franchise group to conduct significant due diligence for their area of interest during the Franchise qualification process (including contacting existing Brotzeit® Franchisee), so as to make informed decisions.
(j) Does Brotzeit® determine the site where the restaurant is to be build?
No, you will select the site; however, a representative of Brotzeit® must approve each location.
(k) Is there a minimum outlet size?
Brotzeit® requires a minimum of 2,500 square feet or approximately 250 square meters for a dine-in restaurant unit. This requirement do not include the outdoor ‘Biergarten’ space. Other criteria such as ceiling height, must also be met.
(l) What kind of training am I expected to complete?
Before opening the first Brotzeit® restaurant, Franchisee must identify a qualified Principal Operator and the first store’s Restaurant Manager and Outlet Chef in place. The personnel who will perform these duties must travel to Brotzeit® headquarters in Singapore for a minimum training period of six weeks. Training is provided at no additional cost; however, each Franchisee is responsible for all "out of pocket" travel and lodging expenses.
(m) What are my options for key product items, i.e. sausages, pork knuckle etc.
Brotzeit®’s signature sausages are specially made according to our proprietary recipies. Our International Franchisees either source for a local manufacturer to manufacture according to our standard, or to purchase from our approved supplier(s). Our Group Executive Chef will assist you to determine the best option for key item supplies in your market and provide you with ongoing operational training and assistance.
(n) How do the food items & equipment in my restaurant(s) get approved?
In all international markets, we strive to find appropriate sources for food and equipment in-country. If and when after sourcing, the product and equipment does not meet our high quality specifications, that product must be imported from an approved Brotzeit® supplier.
(o) Are there restrictions on the products that can be sold?
In order to control the quality of our products, Brotzeit® has a streamlined core menu. However, we will work with you to adapt some other items that may appeal to your local customer base.
(p) What kind of operational support could I expect from Brotzeit®?
The Vice-President, Franchise Operations and the International Operations Team will provide complete consulting support to our International Franchise groups. Their focus is to work with Franchisees to create business strategies and best practices that would improve organisation’s operations, marketing, people development, and increase market share. The International Operations Team will be the link between Franchisee and Brotzeit®’s headquarters. In addition, Brotzeit® will provide an opening team to assist new Franchisees with training and opening of their first outlet and subsequent outlets if needed at a minimal direct cost. Brotzeit® also provides ongoing marketing, procurement, training and I.T. support.
